Born in Burton, Pembrokeshire, son of John Bowing and Anne Brown. He was baptised on 1817-12-28. He passed away on 1870-05-02 and is buried in Cathays Cemetery.
Baptism says Nicholas William Bowling, never once did he use the middle name.

Nicholas Bowling born at Milford 8 December 1817 - Carpenter. First went to sea as Carpenter 1847.
In 1853 - appeared in Court.
A precis of 15 pages, Nicholas Bowling was tried in a court house for stealing Queens stores. He was sentenced to 3 months hard labour. After a plea from the Admirality, Captain and a petition of every crew member - they in fact found the goods he was accused of stealing and appealed the gaol sentence. Reference made about his wife. He was released.
