Charles J. Bowlus, Jr. was the son of Charles J., a fruit merchant[1][2], and Fannie Duvall Bowlus. His father was a mayor of Springfield, Ohio and served three terms. [3][4]
Charles Jr. worked at his father's fruit company as a shipping clerk as a teenager. [3] By 1920, he had worked his way up to a sales job with the fruit company. [5]
In October 1920, Charles married Margaret Hoagland. [6]
In 1930, Charles and Margaret and their two children, Jack and Peggy, lived in Dormont, Pennsylvania (Allegheny County), where Charles worked as a salesman with an undertaking supply company. [7]
At the time of the 1940 census the family was living in Mount Lebanon Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, but in 1935 they lived in Hartford, Connecticut. [8] Charles was a salesman in the funeral industry. At the time of his death, in 1965, he was a representative of the Dodge Chemical Company. [9]
