Magdalena was baptized on 1 February 1709 in Eggiwil, Emmental District, Canton of Bern, Switzerland. She was 9 years old. Her parents were Bendicht Brächbühl and Verena Meister. Her two younger siblings (Ulrich, age 5, and Barbara, age 2) were baptized on the same day. [2]
In a deed dated 15 April 1737, Maudlin was described as (1) the wife of Emanuel Heer, yeoman, of Lancaster County, and (2) one of the daughters of Benedictus Brakebill. She and her two siblings sold to Henry Shank half of a 530-acre parcel of land which they had inherited when their father died. [4]
