Biography

Charles was born in 1932. He passed away in 2014.

Charles Brooks Bradbury died on May 28, 2014 at First Health Hospice House after being diagnosed with brain cancer on May 2, 2014 He was born in White Plains NY and grew up in Briarcliff Manor, NY. He graduated from St. Lawrence University, Canton NY with a BS in Health and Physical Education in 1954 and M.Ed in Secondary Administration in 1958. He was a member of the Football team. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He was Commissioned a 2nd LT in the USArmy upon graduation, served in the 515th MP Company He married Mary Elizabeth Nelson in Syracuse, NY April 30, 1955. He began his teaching and coaching career in Beacon NY. His career in coaching and teaching spanned 30 years. Through those years he coached football, basketball, baseball and golf. He was a certified football and basketball official. He coached football at Hamilton College After retiring as a teacher he became a golf professional and moved to Pinehurst, He was an assistant professional at Long Leaf Golf Club and taught golf for the Southern Pines and Pinehurst Recreation Departments. He thoroughly enjoyed his return to coaching from 2007-2011, serving as running back coach at Pinecrest High School. He was a member of Pinehurst CC and a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua in Southern Pines Chuck was above all a gentleman, a man of few words and when asked at the time of his 50th SLU Reunion what was his greatest achievement he said “his Family and his Faith. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons C. Brooks Bradbury and wife Susan of Waynesville, NC, Thomas Nelson Bradbury and his wife Cindy of Los Angeles, Ca, daughters Elizabeth Bradbury Carpenter and her husband Thomas of Charlotte, N.C., Susan Bradbury Follett and her husband Robert of Wheaton IL and Barbara Bradbury-Pape and her husband Will of Woodbury, Ct Grandchildren Adrien Bradbury St Bernard, Kate Dewolf , Iain Bradbury; Timothy and Nicholas Bradbury; Will ,Spencer and Meredith Follett, Julia Brooks Pape and Great Grandson Jackson St Bernard.. Brother Will Bradbury of New York City, Brothers-in-law William Nelson(Kathleen) and Francis Nelson(Helen) He was predeceased by his parents C.Brooks Bradbury and Barbara Lynch Bradbury and Grandson Bolton Pape.
