She was born on 31 July 1793 in Duxbury, Massachusetts and her parents were Elizabeth (Hickling) and Gamaliel Bradford. Sarah grew up in Boston & Duxbury,Massachusetts.

Sarah Alden Bradford married Samuel Ripley on 6 October 1818 in Charlestown, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Samuel died in 1847.^[1]
