Abraham Brane was born on 14 Mar 1822 in Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Benjamin Brane (1784–1870) and Catherine Schmit (1777–1850). He was christened in the Dutch Reformed Church in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland on 26 May 1822.[1][2]
Abraham married Nancy Hoffman (1820–1903) on 6 Jul 1843 in Montgomery, Hamilton County, Ohio.[3] Their children were:

Catherine Elizabeth (Brane) McClain (1851–1879)

William Henry Brane (1855–1931)

Stephen Martin Brane (1863–1938)
Abraham passed away in 1898 in Liberty Township, Wabash County, Indiana and was buried in Center Grove Cemetery in Lincolnville.[4]
