Biography

Miss Mary Catherine Bray, and Medith Austin, both 21, were married on 14 July 1929 in Johnson, Arkansas. S.B. Nilford officiated. Medith was a resident of Clarksville (Johnson county), and Mary was a resident of Lamar, Johnson, Arkansas ^[1]

In 1940, the Austin family lived in Pittsburg Township, Johnson, Arkansas. They rented their house for $4 per month. They had previously lived in rural Johnson county. The household included Medith Austin, 32, born in Arkansas, a sub-foreman/rock crusher, who had worked 42 weeks in 1939, earning $360. He had completed the 8th grade; his wife, Mary, 32, b. Ark., completed the 7th grade; and their son Carmine, 9, b. Louisiana, in school, had completed third grade. ^[2]

Mary married Clarence M. Austin. She died in 1991 at the age of 83, and is buried with her husband in Lamar Cemetery, Lamar, Johnson, Arkansas. ^[3]
