Biography

Private Clarence Bridge served in the United States Army in World War I
Service started: 5 June 1918
Unit(s): Third Ammunition Train
Service ended: 31 December 1918

Clarence was the son of Frank Bridge and Hattie (Dunn) Bridge of Nelson, New Hampshire.[1] As a young man, he helped work his father's farm. He registered in Keene for the Draft of WWI on June 5, 1918, and served as an Ammunitions Truckdriver from October to December of 1918. He saw action in France as an integral part of the Third Ammunition Train. [2] [3] After the war he worked his own farm in Nelson.

On 24 November 1921, Clarence married Dorris Lula Hill, daughter of Dan L. and Lula G. (Hodgman) Hill of Keene, in a ceremony performed by Rev. N. Addison Baker in Keene.[4]

The couple had two children who died young. A daughter, Jane A Bridge, who survived, was adopted by Neil Metcalf following the death of her biological father.

In late December of 1925, Clarence developed a severe case of pneumonia and died on January 8, 1926.[5][6]

Six years following Clarence's death, Dorris married Neil V. Metcalf on 21 June 1932 in Keene.
