Biography

George Briggs was a son of Job and Mary (Coggeshall) Briggs.[1] He was born Apr 4, 1734 at Portsmouth, Rhode Island.[2]

George Briggs was an Ensign for Rhode Island during the Revolutionary War, serving under Captain Josiah Gibbs of the State Militia.[3]

Per DAR, he was married three times: (1) Hannah Wightman (LNAB Coggeshall), Sarah Wells, and Lydia _____. [3] Children with the first two wives are shown in this source:[4] This source shows all three wives and children from each marriage.[5] However, it should be noted that the Cutter source shows him with different (likely incorrect) parents.
