Biography

Samuel Bright

He was born about 1726. A baptism has not been found, but Samuel is knwon from his father, and a cousin's will. He is the son of Richard Bright and Martha Sutton.
His father Richard died in 1772, leaving a will as of "Richard Bright of Great Waltham, farmer", written 10 Jun 1771 and proved 21 Feb 1772. He bequeathed Richard the bulk and residue of his estate. [1]
In 1784 he received a bequest in the will of his cousin William Judd, an undertaker of Bishopsgate, London, left a will, the probate of which was proved 7 Dec 1784. [2]

    • Signed 3 Dec 1784.
    • Sarah Tatlock of St Lawrence, Jewry, London wife of Charles Tatlock, and Thomas Sadler of Shoreditch, undertaker confirm that they have been acquainted with William Judd for many years and confirm the will to be written in his hand.
    • Proved by the oaths of the sons of the deceased, William Joseph and Thomas Judd 7th Dec 1784.
