Biography

Henry Brightman likely died between the late quarter of 1772 and before 16 November 1773, when his father's Will was probated, as his father Henry Brightman leaves legacies to his 4 grandchildren of his son Henry, whom he calls in his Will, "lately deceased."

Henry Brightman married 1. Susannah Fisher (1736-1762) on 28 November 1758, daughter of John Fisher and Joanna Fish. Children: Wanton Brightman married Sarah Wood, and son Gardner Brightman married Judith Wilcox.

Henry's 2nd wife was Huldah Eddy (1739-1766) whom he married on 5 June 1762, the daughter of Ichabod Eddy and Sarah Winslow. Henry and Huldah had children: Prudence Brightman (1762-1847) married Aaron Davis (1757-1852) in 1780, son Ellis Brightman married Lydia Wilcox.

His 3rd wife was Zilpha Wood, daughter of George Wood and Sarah Davol whom he married on 25 February 1766. After Henry's death, his 3rd wife Zilpha married George Mosher.

Zilpha and Henry had Children:

Martin Brightman b. September 2, 1766, married Eleanor Deluca, (last know residence according to "The Hartford Genealogical Inquiries"), he removed in 1800 to Saratoga County, New York, where he bought land in 1805).

Henry Brightman (1767-1858) Married Mary Childs (removed to Cayuga County, New York, then Junius, Seneca County, New York, then to Monroe County, MIchigan).

Humphrey Brightman b. March 5, 1768, married Phebe (in 1810 in Dryden, Cayuga County, New York, 8 family members, in 1820 in Tompkins, New York, 11 family members, where it is said he remained until death).

Abner Brightman b. December 16, 1769 (not often documented, was in Adams County, Ohio operating a saw mill, removed to Lewis County, Kentucky, was alive in 1830).

Daniel Brightman (1771-1851) married Elizabeth Brownell (removed to Cayuga County, New York, then to Huron County, Ohio where he died).

Cynthia Brightman b. July 3, 1773, married Stephen Davis (1770-1854) had 8 children (residence Esperance, Schoharie County, New York)
