Biography

Nicholas was born about 1703. He is the son of Nicholas Brittain and Frances Stillwell.[1]

He is mentioned in the will of his grandfather, Thomas Stillwell, but is not mentioned in the will of his father, Nicholas Stillwell, so he may have died prior to 1740.[2]The will of his grandfather states, "I give and bequeath to my Daughter Frances now wife of Nicholas Brittin, 60 acres of land joyning to ye land that I now live on, as it is now in his possession during her natural life, and after her decease then to her son Nicholas Brittin & his heirs for ever he paying out of ye same unto his sister, Mary Brittin ye sum of 25 pounds current money of N.Y. at her age of 18 yrs.[3]
