Biography

Alice (Brody) Johnson is a part of US Black heritage.

Birth and Family

Alice was born about 1866. She is the daughter of James Brody and Elizabeth Richman.

Marriage and Family

Alice married Simeon A. Johnson on 9 June 1884.^[1]

In 1900, the couple had been married 16 years. Simon was working as a porter in a hotel. There are no children listed in their family. ^[2]

In 1910 George A. (Alice) and Sims (Simon) were living at 525 East Peoria Ave., Decatur, Illinois. Their 11 year-old niece Lucy H. Brodie was living with them.^[3]

In 1920, Simon and Alice are living in Decatur, Illinois at the same address as in 1910 and a 19 y.o. niece, Helen Brody is living with them. ^[4]

Simon died 25 Sept. 1920 in Decatur Illinois. ^[5]

In 1930, age 66, Joseph D. Brody had his niece Patricia Roberts age 5, and nephew Malcom Roberts age 3 yrs and 5 months living with him. Also living with him and listed as the Head is his sisterGeorge Johnson whose full name is George Alice Brody Johnson.^[6] This family group would indicate that Hildrin C. Johnson Roberts is the mother of the children and George Alice is their grandmother.

Death and Burial

George Alice died on 8 February, 1951. She is buried in Dodge Grove Cemetery^[7]

Research

It is probable that Hildren C. Johnson is their daughter. However research is needed to support that. Hildren is mother of Patricia (Roberts) Harris.

• In 1900 George Alice reported having no children. In 1910 there is a / mark in the number of children column and no mark in the number of living children column.
