Augustus E Bronson was born 27 Dec 1835 in Connecticut
Joined the 3rd Connecticut. Infantry, Co. C at the beginning of the Civil War and participated at the Battle of Manassas (Bull Run) where he was taken prisoner, brought to Richmond, VA., was in various prisons for 9 months before being exchanged and returned to Connecticut.
Joined the 17th CT Infantry, Co. C, on July 22, 1862.
He was mortally wounded on July 1, 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg on Barlow's Knoll, and died on 5 Jul 1863 in Gettysburg, Adams, Pennsylvania.
Buried in Upper Starrs Plain Cemetery, located in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut[1].
