Charles Brookes lived in Wharehine, Auckland, New Zealand.

Charles was born about 1849. He was the son of Edwin Brookes and Jemima Hovey. He passed away in 1876.

From Daily Southern Cross, 26 September 1868 and 2 October 1868 On September 5, Charles Henry, fourth son of Rev Edwin S Brookes, who was accidentally drowned by the capsizing of a boat, owing to the shifting of the ballast. He was on his way to visit his girlfriend. He became the first person to be buried in the cemetery of Minniesdale Chapel - His father was the Reverend.
