Biography

Walter Albert Westwood Brookes was born in 1893 at Blackheath, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, the son of Thomas Brooks and Florence Westwood. ^[1]

In the 1901 census Walter was living with his parents and other family members at Powke Lane, Rowley Regis. He was aged 7 years. ^[2]

His mother Florence Brookes died in 1902 when Walter was aged 9 years. His father remarried the following year.

In the 1911 census Walter was living with his father and stepmother at 18 Ladysmith Road, Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Aged 17, he was working as a labourer. ^[3]

Walter Albert Westwood Brookes married Constance Mary Young in 1920 at St. Mark, Basford, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire. ^[4]

This couple had one known child.
