Biography
Dora (Brooks) Mims is a part of US Black heritage.
Dora Brooks was born on 26 Mar 1909 in Garland, Butler, Alabama, United States, daughter of Tom Brooks (~1870–1925) and Petronia Hicks (~1895–~1930).
Dora (16) and Isaiah Mims (24) were married on 24 Dec 1925 in Georgiana, Butler County, Alabama.[1] Isaih was born in 1900 in Evergreen, Conecuh. He was the son of Jerry Mims and Sallie (ingram) Mims. They had at least eleven children, including Sallie Mae Mims (1927–2002).
In 1930, Dora (21) was living in the household of Isah Mims (28) in Election Precinct 10 Gravella, Conecuh with their two children.[2]
In 1940, Dora (31) was living in the household of Isah Mims (39) in Owassa, Conecuh with their children, Sally Mae (13), Tommy L (11), Genie B Mims (9), Ruby Lee Mims (8), Isah Jr (7), Lucile Mims (4), Darkis Mims (2), and Zachariah Mims (0).[3]
In the 1950 census Dora (age 39) was the wife of Isaiah Mims in Conecuh, Alabama, United States.[4]
Dora died on 17 Mar 1986 in Brewton, Escambia, Alabama, aged 76. She was buried in Second Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Evergreen, Conecuh County, Alabama.[5]
