Biography

Edwin Amos Brown was born about 1837 in New York, son of Luman Brown and Esther (Sawtell) Brown.[1]

By 1839, his family had moved to Breedsville, Van Buren Co, MI, where his younger brother, Henry E., was born. In the 1840 U.S. Census the family is listed as living in South Haven Twp (probably in Breedsville, which was still included in South Haven Twp in 1840), Van Buren Co, MI.[2]

In 1850 Edwin was living with his parents in Columbia Twp (which included Breedsville), Van Buren Co, MI.[3] In 1860 Edwin was living in Columbia Twp, Van Buren Co, MI, with the Anderson family, along with several other borders. His occupation is listed as Lumbering-[4]
