Florella was a half sister to John Brown (bn 1800 hero of Kansas & Harper's Ferry.) She married Samuel Lyle Adair . She met him at
Oberlin College where he completed his ministerial degree. Florella also graduated from Oberlin. Owen Brown, her father was a trustee of Oberlin College from 1835-1844 In the fall of 1849 the family of Adairs moved from Maumee City Ohio to Lafayette Ohio. Samuel had accepted a pastoral position with the Congregational Church.
