Captain Thomas Dalton Brown was born September 28, 1800, the son of Capt William Brown and Hannah Joy of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1]
On February 27, 1827, he married Nancy Lewis, daughter of Waitstill Lewis and Chloe Butler of Yarmouth[1]
Their children included
William Waitstill, born March 7, 1828, who died in 1856, unmarried[1]
Harriet Murray, born August 27, 1829, who died in 1862, unmarried[1]
Nancy, born October 1, 1831, who married Capt Martin G. Burns[2][1]
Jane, born February 23, 1833, who married Joseph W. Crowell[3][1]
Thomas, born October 2, 1834, who died in 1859, unmarried[1]
George Murray, born November 6, 1836, who married Mary Irene Crosby, daughter of Joseph[4][1]
Charles, born January 18, 1839, who married Eleanora Wyman, daughter of Levi[5][1]
He passed away December 25, 1865, in Yarmouth[6], and is buried in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery[7]. The inscription reads Thomas D. Brown died Dec 26, 1865, Aged 65 year, Husband of Nancy. Son of Wm & Hannah.
