Edward was born in 1810 in Argyll, Scotland. He was the son of William Brown and Margaret Ralston . [1]

He came to the United States with his family in 1834 and settled in Ohio. [2]

He married Elizabeth Brown in 1841 in Reading, Ohio.[3]

Edward’s sister Margaret married Elizabeth’s brother Alexander.

They farmed in Hamilton County, Ohio. [4]

About 1853 moved to Winnebago County, Illinois and were part of the Scottish Settlement at Argyle.[5] [6] [7]

Edward died in 1888.

Obituary

Edward Brown, one of the early Scotch settlers of this place, died suddenly at his residence last Tuesday, Oct. 31, of old age. He leaves five daughters and one son to mourn his death. [8]
