Jane Broom was born in 1815 in Everingham, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. Her family also used the surname Brown. Jane, the daughter of John Broom & Jane Newsome, was baptised on 17 June 1815 at their parish church in Everingham.[1][2]

She immigrated to America as a young girl where she married George Fewlass (born in England) sometime before 1834, when she was 14 or 15 years old. The couple had 3 known children before his death in 1838. # John Robert Fewlass (1835–1900).
