Ebenezer Randolph "Eben" Buck was born in 1794 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA. He was the son of Captain Eliphalet Buck and his wife, Sarah (Cole) Buck.[1] His parents had been married on 6 September 1785 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. Ebenezer was the 6th of the couple's 10 children. [2]

Buck was a man of the sea; he became a "Mariner," a commercial sailor, and established himself at Eastport, Washington County, Maine District, Massachusetts, USA. He married Mehitable Vose, b: 4 Jan 1800 in Robbinston, Maine District, Massachusetts, on 25 February 1818 in Robbinston, Maine District, Massachusetts, USA. Maine would become its own US State in 1820. [3]

Alas, sailing has always been a dangerous profession. Ebenezer R. Buck died by drowning on 5 November 1836 at just 41 years old. His oldest children were still teenagers. He was buried at Brewer Cemetery, Robbinston, Washington County, Maine, USA. [4] His wife survived her husband's untimely passing and did not remarry. Mehitable (Vose) Buck passed away on 27 Apr 1889 at 89 years old on their farm in Robbinston, Washington County, Maine, USA. She was buried next to her late husband at Brewer Cemetery in Robbinston, Washington County, Maine, USA. [5]
