Caroline was born in Eynsham, Oxfordshire and baptised at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 7th November 1820.[1] She was the daughter of Joseph Buckingham and Hannah Harris. Her father gave his occupation at the baptism as labourer.
Marriage
John Laitt and Caroline Buckingham were married after banns at St Peter and St Paul, Hanborough on 7th August 1848.[2] They were bachelor and spinster, both of the parish and both of full age. John was a sawyer and the son of Thomas Laitt who was also a sawyer. Caroline was a gloveress and the daughter of Joseph Buckingham who was a labourer. John signed his name on the register whilst Caroline could only make her mark with a cross. The witnesses to the marriage were Charles Buckingham and Fanny Buckingham.[3]
