Biography

Ellen was born in 1847. She was the daughter of James and Joanna. She married Abraham Cradick Poad around 1875, and they migrated to NZ in 1884 She passed away in 1930 age 83 . ^[1]

At the age of 84 years Mrs. Ellen Poad died at Coronation Road, Mangere, on November 23. She was born at Callington, in Cornwall, England, and came to New Zealand with her husband, the late Mr. A. C. Poad, in the ship Doric, which arrived at Auckland in 1884. Shortly after their arrival Mr. and Mrs. Poad 'settled at Mangere, where Mr. Poad started in business as a wheelwright and blacksmith. Mrs. Poad is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. Newman, of Epsom, and Mrs. B. Bowrey, of Mangere, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.^[2]
