Theodorus is reported to have been born c.1701 or 1702 in Switzerland, the son of Francis Bough Buchwalter and Mary Durst Mellinger, and to have immigrated with his parents to America in 1717.[1]

He married Barbara Landis [2] in 1724 in Chester (later Lancaster) County, PA. [1]They were the parents of :

  1. Veronica m. John Stauffer [2]

Theodorus is reported to have died on 7 Jul 1782 and been buried at the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. [1]

Research Notes

The Find A Grave entry differs from dates from documented sources. The Find A Grave page has no tombstone, burial site, is just someone's family tree they built without documentation or source. It is known that Theodorus's Will was entered into Probate on 17 July 1782. Since it was written in German, Will Book entry only shows that Letters of Administration were entered on that date.

Other unsourced details from Findagrave include :

  • wife Barbara was born in Canton, Zurich, Switzerland to Jacob Landis (b.1667, d.1730) and Anna Witmer (b.1671, d.1725).
  • Theodorus & Barbara had 13 children born in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster between 1725 and 1746, identified as : Anlea "Ann", Maria, Barbara, Frantz, Martha, Hans, Johannes, Lizzie, Abraham Landis, Joseph, Henrich, Henry and Veronica.
  • Parents, Francis and Mary Buchwalter are thought to have been buried in an old Indiana cemetery under what is now downtown of Phoenixville, PA.

Buckwalter-167 and Buckwalter-34 appear to represent the same person because: Birth dates and spouse names match.
