Ezekiel was born about 1834. On 04 March 1858 in Hall County, Georgia, he married Nancy Hardage. He and Nancy had two children: Jesse W. and Marion Cook Buffington.
In the Civil War, he enlisted in the 43rd Regiment, Georgia Infantry Co. F and was captured in the fighting at Baker's Creek, near Vicksburg, MS. He died in the harsh conditions of Fort Delaware Prison. After initial burial in the marshes of Pea Patch Island outside the walls of the prison, his remains later were transferred to a common grave of Confederate dead at Finn's Point, NJ. She passed away in 1869. .
