Biography

Mary Juanita (Bunting) Howard, 72, of Mt. Erie, died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Erie Christian Church. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery in Mt. Erie.

Mrs. Howard was born June 15, 1939, in Mt. Erie, the daughter of James Hunt and Sybil Edna Bunting. She married her high-school sweetheart, Marvin Howard, of Mt. Erie, on April 6, 1958.

She is a member of Mt. Erie Christian Church, where she played the piano. She also attended Fairfield First Christian Church. She was owner/operator of the Mt. Erie Store and worked as a cook at Mt. Erie Grade School for several years. Her greatest accomplishment and joy was raising five children and being a loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, Marvin B. Howard; a daughter, Tammie (Gary) Mugrage, of Cisne; a son, Carroll (Sunny) Howard, of Fairfield; a daughter, Debbie (Mark) Meyer, of Mt. Carmel; a daughter, Patty (Josh) Vaughan, of Fairfield; and a son, James Howard, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
