Biography

Walter Chapman Burder was born in 1848 in Islington, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom. He was the son of the Vicar of Ugley, Alfred Burder and his wife, Ellen Perry. [1][2]

Walter Chapman Burder, the son of Alfred Burder (a clerk in orders at Oakley Vicarage) and his wife, Ellen Sarah, was baptised on 10th March 1848 at the Anglican church of Saint Peter, Ugley, Essex, England, United Kingdom. [3]

In 1851, Alfred Burder (male age 38, Head, Married, Vicar of Ugley, born in Clerkenwell, Middlesex), his wife, Ellen Sarah Burder (27, born in Lambeth, Surrey) and their two sons, Walter Chapman Burder (age 3, born in Islington, Middlesex) and Alfred William Newsome Burder (age 1, born in Ugley, Essex) were living in The Vicarage, Ugley, Bishops Stortford, Essex, England, United Kingdom. There were also a number of visitors. [4][5]

In 1861, he was recorded as William C Burder (13, scholar, born in Islington, Middlesex) in the house of his grandfather, Thos W Perry (81, widowed, a Retired Accountant, born in London, Middlesex), in Alm Bank, Tottenham Lane, Hornsey, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom. It's definitely the right person, from the other members of his family the household, on whom I have done considerable research. [6]

Messenger and Co LTD Horticultural Engineers, Loughborough was acquired in 1874 by Walter Chapman Burder and it opened it's Cumberland Road site (off Ashby Road) in 1884. [7]

Walter Chapman Burder married Elizabeth Jane Gifford Nash in 1876 in Saffron Walden, Essex. [8][9]

In 1881, Walter C Burder (male age 33, Head, Married, Horticultural builder employing 65 men and 10 boys, born in Islington, Middlesex) was living in Park Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom, along with his wife, Elizabeth J G Burder (25, born in Berden, Essex) and two children, Eric WG Burder (3, born in Loughborough, Leicestershire) and Muriel N Burder (10 months, born in Loughborough, Leicestershire). Amy Havergal (28, single, born in Cople, Bedfordshire) was visiting. There were also two female servants. [10][11]

In 1891, Walter C. Burder (43, head, married, Horticultural Engineer born in Middlesex) was living at Field House on Ashby Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. [12]

Kelly's Handbook of 1901 described him as the eldest son of Rev. Alfred Burder of Oakley, Essex, born in 1848, married in 1876 to Elizabeth JG, daughter of Rev FG Nash of Clavering, Essex; Is JP (1896) Leicestershire; Field House, Loughborough, Leicestershire. [13]

Walter Chapman Burder died age 83 years and was buried on 17 Jun 1931 in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England, United Kingdom. [14]
