Anna Maria's LNAB should be "Jans". The name "Burg" didn't apply until after her father registered the name in 1811. Please remove this notice after the LNAB has been corrected.
Biography
Anna Maria was born in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Nederland, on April 30, 1788, to Jan Rienks and Maryke Michiels.[1] Anna Maria was the fourth of six children born to Jan and Maryke. Her three older siblings were brother Rienk Jans (1780),[2] brother Michiel Jans (1783),[3] and brother Harmen Jans (1785).[4] Her two younger siblings were brother Arjen Jans (1790)[5] and sister Catharina (1791).[6]
Anna Maria's father, Jan Rienks Burg, died on November 10, 1814 at the age of 62.[7] Anna Maria was 26.
On May 4, 1817, at the age of 29, Anna Maria Burg married Machiel Obbes, a 27 year old carpenter's assistant, and son of Obbe Aukes and Janneke Jans.[8]
Four months later, on September 16, 1817, Anna Maria gave birth to a daughter, Janneke.[9]
A year and a half later, on June 6, 1819, Anna Maria gave birth to a son, Harmen. In the birth record her name is recorded as Anna Rienks Burg.[10]
Three years after Harmen was born, on May 31, 1822, Anna Maria gave birth to a son, Jan. On Jan's birth record Anna Maria's name is recorded as Antje Burg.[11]
Whatever joy was present in the Obbes household did not last long. Eleven months after the birth of Jan and one day after her 35th birthday, on May 1, 1823, Anna Maria's daughter, Janneke, died. Janneke was only 6 years old.[12] Four months after the death of Janneke, on August 30, 1823, Anna Maria's husband, Michiel Obbes, died. He was only 34 years old.[13] A little over one year later, on December 11, 1824, Anna Maria's son, Harmen, died. He was only 5 years old.[14]
A year and a half after the death of her young son, Harmen, on May 14, 1826, 38 year old Anna Maria married 24 year old cobbler Hildebrand Kroes, the son of Marten Kroes and Maria Petronella Schultz.[15]
During the following years, Anna Maria gave birth to three more children. Daughter, Martijntje Kroes, was born on February 6, 1827,[16] son, Nicolaas Kroes, was born on November 7, 1828,[17] and son, Georg Lodewijk Kroes, was born on July 24, 1831.[18]
This period of time, which should have been filled with joy, was interrupted by the death of her son, Nicolaas, on January 5, 1830. Nicolaas was only 14 months old.[19]
Many years later, on July 23, 1854, Anna Maria's surviving daughter, Martijntje, married Antonius Jacobus Simmer, a 27 year old cobbler.[20]
A little more than one year after the wedding of her daughter, Anna Maria Burg died on September 29, 1855. She was 67.[21]
