Biography

Reuben Burgess was probably born about 1776 in Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, the son of Thomas and Eliza (Nickerson) Burgess of Harwich.^[1][2] It is possible that he was born in Falmouth, per his daughter's death record, but his parents resided in Harwich.^[3] No birth records have been found for Reuben or his siblings.

He married Barbara Small in Falmouth on 29 March 1796. The marriage was recorded in both Falmouth and Harwich.^[4][5]

Reuben died at sea, probably shortly before 28 Dec 1808 when his estate was inventoried.^[6][1]
