Son of Joseph Burkart and Gertrude Strassberger He married his first wife Marie Overmyer in 1897 and she died in 1901 He then married Frances Werning in 1903 Father of Charles W and Gertrude Auffenberg Mann Dobbins
He was a long time mayor of Seymour Indiana, first elected in 1917
