Whereas, in 1960, she married Jean Plouffe, and the following year, she and her husband purchased the old Jackson farm in Bridport where they raised five children, and. Whereas, while no longer living at the Jackson farm, the Plouffes remain proud residents of Bridport, and. Whereas, Mary Plouffe's involvement in the community has included activities related to both youngsters and senior citizens, and. Whereas, the span of the individuals who have benefited from her good deeds ranges from the 4-H Club members under her charge when she was a local leader for that youth organization to the beneficiaries of the meals program at the local Champlain Valley Agency on Aging facility, referred to as Bridport Seniors, where she served as a meal site manager and a cook, and. Whereas, both the seniors in Bridport who came to appreciate Mary Plouffe's innovative culinary efforts on their behalf and the staff at the Burlington office of the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging who recognized the special contribution she has made to her community's seniors have honored her with separate awards, and. Whereas, the Bridport Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary has bestowed honorary membership on this special citizen of Bridport, and. Whereas, Mary Plouffe is a member of the St. Bernadette's Altar Society, and. Whereas, the town of Bridport has benefited from the many community roles that this most energetic and talented friend and neighbor has played for over 40 years, and. Whereas, in honor of Mary Plouffe's outstanding municipal citizenship, the 2003 Bridport Annual Town Report is dedicated in her honor, now therefore be it. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives: That the General Assembly honors Mary Plouffe for her long-time community service in Bridport, and be it further. [2] 2017: BRIDPORT, VT - Mary I. Plouffe, 82, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 25, 1934, in Benson, the daughter of Bernard and Velna (Doane) Burke. She and her husband, Jean-Noel Plouffe, started the Plouffe Family Farm in Bridport in 1961 and she worked as a cook and site manager for Bridport Senior Center. Mrs. Plouffe was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church and the church Altar Society, as well as Bridport Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed cooking, gardening, collecting and sharing recipes, and watching Little House on the Prairie. Survivors include her husband, of Bridport, whom she married Sept. 3, 1960, in Orwell;. her children, Bernadette Boyle, of Tomball, Texas, Marcel and Paul Plouffe, both of Bridport, Lise Fifield, of Middlebury,. and Suzanne Sampson, of Ladson, South Carolina; her sister, Catherine Rochon, of Rutland; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Theresa Nantel and Donald Burke. Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Bridport, with the Rev. William Beaudin as the celebrant. [1]
