Francis M. Burns was born about 1803 in Virginia, United States. He was the son of Peter Burns and Jane Miller. It is likely his middle name was Marion but this is not proven. His brother, David Patton Burns, had a son named Francis Marion Burns. Francis M. Burns married Drucella "Zillia" Alford in 1826 Cabell County, Virginia. Their children were: Jane, Peggy, Virginia, Mary L., Cynthia, Ruth, Frederick Lewis, Artemicia, Venilla, George Washington, and Cinderella [1]. He passed away about 1849 in Cabell County, Virginia.
