BURTON— FISHER.
A quiet wedding was solemnised at All Saints Church of England, West Kempsey, on March 19th, when Laura Mabel, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fisher, of East Frederick ton, was united to Cecil James, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. james Burton of Gladstone, Canon Ware officiating. The bride, given away by her father, looked very pretty in a frock of ivory georgette and silver lace, and an embroidered Brussels net veil (kindly lent by Mrs. John Saul) held with a coronet of orange blossoms. The shower bouquet was of white roses dahlias and ferns. Miss Marion Fisher, sister of the bride was in attendance and wore a frock of shell pink crepe de chine and silver lace, with a bandeau of pink tulle. She carried a posy of pink dahlias, mauve sfocks and ferns. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a beautiful fur stole; and to him the bride presented a pair of exylonite military brushes and comb. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaid was a xylonite set. Mr. Jack Saul was best man; and Mr. Alwyn Secomb was organist. The reception was held at Mottee Bros., where the bride's mother received the guests, in navy morocain, gold beaded, and hat to tone. Her bouquet was pink roses, and ferns. The bridegroom's mother wore a dress of black morocain. with beading, and hat en suite, and carried a bouquet. When leaving by car for the honeymoon, the bride wore a dress of cinnamon crepe de chine and hat to match. Many valuable gifts were received. — (Contributed.) [2]
Saturday last, a little after 1 p.m., two motor lorries came into collision near the Memorial Monument at East Kempsey. Mr. Cecil J. Burton, accompanied by Mr. Ray Eric Fisher, was driving his own1 truck down Rudder-street towards the bridge; and Mr. Anthony Clarke, of Jerseyville, was driving up the hill from the bridge when the accident occurred. Mr. Clarke was accompanied by Mr. Llewellyn Brady. Mr. Fisher, who lives at Frederickton, sustained a severe lacerated wound to his forehead, lacerated left ear, slight concussion and shock. The Ambulance staff rendered first aid and conveyed the injured man to the District Hospital. The other folk in the smash escaped with slight injury. [3]
Monday evening last Beverley Kay Burton, one year and nine months, passed away at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil J. Burton, 48 Betts-street, East Kempsey. Much sympathy is extended them in their sad loss. Under conduct of Mr. J. T. Walker, the funeral takes place at two o'clock this Wednesday morning from the residence after a service by the Rev. J. Winslow, who will also officiate at the graveside at the Church of England cemetery, West Kempsey. [4]
