MR. JOHN JOSEPH BUSH.
The sudden death on 25th ultimo
ing last of Mr. John Joseph Bush,
of Dalwood-road, East Branxton,
cast a gloom over the district. De
ceased was one of the most popular
men in the district, his kindly dis
position and his big, warm heart
having endeared him to one and all.
His purse was ever open to all 'in
need, and never a deserving case
passed his notice.
Born at Windermere in the Loch
invar district iu 1871 deceased was
in his 57th year. His father died
when he was five years of age, his
mother being left with a young fam
ily to face the world. At an early
age he was forced to battle his way
in life, and for many years laboured
under the guidance of the late Mr.
J. C. Bendeich, at Woodville, Stan
hope. In 1891 he entered the em
ploy of the late Mr. Joseph Berciui,
at Branxton, where he remained for
25 years. Later he commenced busi
ness on his own account in East
Branxton, where ho was subse
quently joined by his only son. De
ceased took a very keen interest iu
siport, and in his youthful duys will
bo remembered for his exploits on
the football field. A keen debater,
his heart was wrapped up In all
matters appertaining to local govern
ment and shire matters. As a citi
zen, ho was never found wanting.
As a trustee of the Branxton Park
sinco Its inauguration, he always
advocated anything that would be
an improvement, also as a member
of the local School of Arts commit
tee.
The funeral, which took place on
Wednesday, was ono of tho largest
aoen here for a long time, and was
a silent tribute to the respect and
esteem in which deceased was held.
He was a faithful member of the
local H.A.C.U. Society, beint ono of
tho foundation members, and as a
mark of respect the members, in full
rogalla, formed a guard of honour
at his late residence, and marched
in front of the cortege, formed a fur
ther guard as the remains wero car
ried to St. Brigid's Church, whore
Mass was celebrated by the Rev. J. ?
P. Kelly, who also ofiiciated at the'
graveside. Deceased is survived by'
his wile, one son, John, and two
daughters, Mary and Kathleen. There
are also three brothers, William'
(Murrurundi),- Percy (Gurlewis),' '
and Anthony (Marrickville), Two'
sisters predeceased him. His step
father. Mr. Harry Schweinberg, of

His mother died some years a/go.
There are also five step-sisters: Mrs.
Gillies (Islington), Mrs. Leddon';
(Hamilton), Mrs. Low (Newcastle),
Mrs. Taylor (Werris Creek), Mrs.'
Host (Lakemba), and three step
(North Sydney), Lottie, Harry (Woy
Woy), and Daniel (Newcastle); — pur
