Biography

When Albert Morrison Butcher was born on October 31, 1888, in Concord, Massachusetts, his father, Albert, was 29 and his mother, Mary, was 26. His father left the family and went to California via Washington State.

Albert departured on 27 Mar 1919 from Brest, France and arrived on 4 Apr 1919 at Boston, Massachusetts where his address was 426 Main Street, Concord, Massachusetts. His serial number was 197, 113. The Ship was Mount Vernon and his Military Unit was the 101ST Engineers Train.

He married Lillian Gertrude Keith on October 24, 1919, in his hometown.

He died on July 7, 1927, in the Chelsea Naval Hospital after a long illness, at the age of 38, and was buried in Concord, Massachusetts.

"The funeral of Albert Morrison Butcher, a veteran of the World War, who died in the Chelsea Naval Hospital following a long illness will be held here tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock in the West Concord Union Church, with three clergymen taking part in the service. The Concord Lodge of Odd Fellows will also have its service at the church. The body will be escorted from the church to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery by a detail of the James J. Mansfield Post, 158, American Legion, of Concord, and a firing squad of Co. H 182d Infantry, Massachusetts National Guard, also of Concord. The body will be interred in the family lot with military honors."
