Biography
John, son of Rebecca Crowfoot father's name left blank, was born in 1824 and baptised on 15 February 1824 in Framlingham, Suffolk, England.[1] [2] He may be the adopted son of John Butcher, born before their marriage. His father is not confirmed.
In the 1841 census taken in Framlingham 'John Crowfoot Butcher' was born about 1826 in Suffolk, England, United Kingdom, with John Butcher (~1793–1870) and Rebecca Crowfoot (1797–1878).[3]
Research notes
In the 1851 census John (age 32) was the head of household with Lydia in Badingham, Suffolk, England. Born in Cransford. [4]
Transcribed from Register, if John was born and died in Framlingham, would he have married in London, was that the bride's (who was born in Bignor) Parish? Bachelor John Butcher (farmer age 31), son of John Butcher (farmer) of 179 Tooley St, married after Banns spinster Caroline Tupper (31) daughter of William Tupper (florist) on 30 January 1855 in Saint Olave, Bermondsey: Tooley Street, Southwark, England. Both signed the register witnessed by William Tupper and Ellen Tupper.[5] Caroline, daughter of Wm Tupper (farmer) & Sarah Tupper, was baptised on 24 March 1821 in Bignor, Sussex, England.[6]
John died on 9 December 1882 residing in Framlingham, Suffolk, England and his estate passed probate on 2 February 1883 in Ipswich.[7]
