Biography

Mary was born in 1832, the oldest of 8 children to William Booker Butler Sr and Mary Elizabeth Hemphill. Her siblings were: Jesse Samuel, William Booker Jr, Levi Thomas, James Wiley, Alfonso Fields, Lucinda Taylor, and Robert Henry Clay.

She married before 1850 to Elias Ivey, son of Eldridge P Ivey and Edith Ivey. She was about 17 years old. They had at least 4 children together:

1. William Eldridge Ivey
2. Zebediah Etheridge Ivey
3. Thomas Jefferson Ivey
4. Elias Ivey
