There are some discrepancies with this person's details. The (often inaccurate) Family Search site records her name as CATHERINE BUTTERS (1782-1867). Her name in the National Records of Scotland (NRS) marriage register is recorded as KATHARINE BUTTER. I have obtained a copy of her death certificate which again names her as CATHERINE BUTTERS. BUTTERS is also shown as the surname of her parents. I have traced birth records for all of her siblings....NRS shows their surname as BUTTER! One further complication...her death certificate show she died in 1867 aged 83 which indicates she was born in either 1783 or 1784. Family Search has her year of birth as 1782.

I have opted for the time being for Katharine Butter dob 1783 although these details can be amended later if proved incorrect.
