Hans Bär was baptised on 4 July, 1612 in Hausen[1][2]. An alternate birth date of 20 may, 1616 has been suggested[3]. On 16 Nov., 1634 Hans married Verena Huber Katrina Verena Huber, who was baptised on 15 Oct., 1615 in Mettmenstetten, in Mettmenstetten, Zurich, Switzerland[4][5]. They had 11 children[6].
On 13 NOV 1649 purchased with cousin Hans Janli Bar and uncle Hans Jakob Bar for 2000 florins a dairy farm, Ober Albis, located along the road to the top of the mountain above Hausen called Ratlisberg. [7]. Hans Bär died on 4 July, 1659[8].
1676 - On 28 March, Verena Huber Bar was buried at Hausen.

This was the time of a tax revolt in the area, and in 1646 the Zurich government advanced by force of arms and occupied Wäldenswil, the town north of Richterswil on Lake Zurich. In February 1647 the Anabaptists left the Zurich area in the direction of the Rhine River (Map of the Kraichgau). This was near the end of the 30 Years' War (1618-1648) which had left much of Germany depopulated. A map ofdeaths due to war and desease has been created. Pfalz, in particular, had suffered population losses exceeding 50%. Because Oswald Bär sold his farm in Albis in 1649 and his family is not on the 1650census of Richterswil, they probably joined the older children.[9]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Hans by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Hans:
Yes there are many errors here. I am in the midst of doing a formal biography of Hans Bär. Fixing the spelling error of his name will be done in due time. As to the German Roots, it includes German speaking people of Austria, Russia, Poland and Switzerland. When or if they activate the idea of a Switzerland roots, I will so designate my Swiss German ancestors.
There are many errors in this lineage. Have you consulted the articles by Jane Evans Best?
All the names in this family, at least as long as they were born in Switzerland or Germany, should be spelled with the umlaut "Bär". When typing, hold down the Alt key and type 132 on your number pad to generate the ä symbol.
Hans Bär has no German ancestry, so really should not be categorized in the German Roots Group. How about the Switzerland Roots Group?
