Military

Vietnam War US Marines PFC, C CO, 1ST BN, 7TH MARINES, 1ST MARDIV, III MAF He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on July 12, 1967. With orders for duty in Vietnam, he arrived in country on December 15, 1967 and was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

On February 15, with reports of enemy troop massing in the hills overlooking Hill 10 LtCol. William Davis chose Company D and Company C to send in a reconnaissance patrol to locate and engage the enemy. A squad from Company D moving forward on a ridgeline between Hill's 270 and 310 received some incoming automatic weapons fire wounding two men, the men assaulted the enemy and secured Hill 210,they then began movement toward Hill 310 to link up with Company C once again drawing hostile fire.

Company C was ordered to link up with the men who had made contact with the enemy, within minutes a heavy volume of automatic weapons fire, RPG rocket fire, and hand grenades hit the advancing men inflicting numerous casualties. Six were dead and another twelve wounded, the main enemy position had not been on the crest of the hills but rather in the saddle that separated the two peaks.

PFC Cady was one of the many casualties,died as a result of gunshot wounds during the firefight with hostile forces.
