Biography

Pietro Cafolla was born in 1801 in Lenola, Caserta, Campania, Italy. He was the son of Salvatore Cafolla and Antonia Magnafico. He was the husband of Clemenzia Rosato^[1] and the father of Zaccaria Cafolla (1844-1915).^[2]

In Sep 1864, he was abducted by brigands while working in the fields about halfway between Lenola and Fondi in Italy. They beat him and threatened him, demanding an exorbitant ransom that his family could not pay. Eventually, they let him go with a promise of a much smaller payment. Such abductions seem to have been somewhat common during this time of political and social unrest during the unification of Italy.^[3]

Pietro died in Lenola in Mar 1875.^[1]

Pietro was the 3x great grandfather of actor Zachary Quinto.
