Old Daphne was born before 1800.
She is listed in the 1820 probate inventory of owner Henry Calder, which named and valued each of the slaves after Henry's death.[1]
Old Daphne is listed with young Daphne, Pegg, Jack and Beck, valued collectively at $2,600. The exact relationship between them cannot be determined from the record, but the assumption can be made that Old Daphne is probably the mother of the other 4 individuals.
