Biography

James was born about 1745.^[1] He was the son of Aquilla Calkins and Desire Ackley. He married Phebe Unknown who died 2 Jul 1825, age 76, birth year (Estimated): 1749^[2]

Children of this marriage include the following child. Of note, in the Mansfield, Connecticut vital records book, the children of their marriage are listed as "Children of James Calkins." ^[3] Their children include:

• The James Calkins of this profile was born ca. 1745 in Hebron, CT;^[1] died on 3 January 1831 in Manchester, CT;^[1] and had a wife named Phebe whose surname was possibly Dunham.
• The James Calkins referenced by the DAR and SAR was born ca. 1750;^[11] died 8 March 1837 in Wilbraham, MA;^[11] and had wives named Lucretia (Unknown) and Esther Cadwell.^[11]
