William was born in 1849 in Old Bond Street, London. He was the son of William Berkeley Call and Laura Emma Gardiner. He was educated at Eton.
He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Call, of Whiteford, co. Cornwall (est, 1791 in the Baronetage of Great Britain) upon the death of his father on 22 December 1864. The title gave him the equivalent status of a knight. He also inherited Whiteford House in Stoke Climsland, Cornwall.
He married Marie Valentine Mauleon, daughter of Captain Victor Alexandre Mauleon, on 9 May 1891 at All Souls Church, Langham Place, London. They did not have children.
He passed away in 1903 in Ilfracombe, Devon. Without heirs, the title became extinct upon his passing.
