Mary was born about 1835. She passed away before 1935.
On 15 Jul 1850, Maryanna Callaghan was counted in the household of her father, Charles Callaghan, with mother, Agnes (Nancy Agnes Persinger), and sister Juliet. She was age 14, born in Virginia, and a student.[1]
John L. Porter, 23, b. 1833 to Ezekiel and Matilda Porter to Mananna [sic] (Marianna?), 21, b. 1835 to Chas. and Nancy Callaghan. Married 17 Dec 1856 in Alleghany, Virginia.[2]
William L. Porter, stillborn white male, born 21 Feb 1858 in Covington, Alleghany, Virginia to John L. (wheel wright) and Mary A. Porter. Father informed.[3]
On 8 Aug 1860, Mary A. Porter was enumerated in the Covington, Alleghany census with her husband, John L., and son, William L. Thomas Porter and John M. Hayslet also were counted in the household as farm laborers. Thomas was John's brother. Mary was 24, born in Virginia.[4]
Ann A. Porter, white female, born 11 Jan 1861 in Botetourt, Virginia to John L. (farmer) and Mary A. Porter. Father informed.[5]
Mary A. Porter, married white female, 44, wife, keeping house, was enumerated in the 1880 census for Kanawha County, West Virginia. She was counted with her husband and two children, all born in Virginia, parents born in Virginia.[6]
John L. and Mary A. Porter were enumerated in the 1900 Putnam County, West Virginia census. John was head of household, married white male, age 66, born Nov 1833 in Virginia to parents born in Virginia. He was a day laborer, rented his home, and could read and write. Mary was counted as his wife, married white female, age 64, two of four children living, born Dec 1835 in Virginia to parents who were born in Virginia. She also could read and write. Both were married for 43 years.[7]
Mary A Callaghan Porter was most likely interred at Witcher Cemetery in Belle, Kanawha, West Virginia, although her death date was never added to the stone.[8]
