Sarah E Callender, b. about 1790 Boston; d. 1 Mar 1859 Boston; unmarried.
Mary W Callender, b. about 1792 Boston; d. 2 Nov 1880 Boston; unmarried.
Elizabeth passed away 27 Mar 1793 in Boston[4]. Joseph then married another Elizabeth, whose surname and origins have not been found. They had two additional children[5][1]:
Helen A Callender, b. about 1800 Boston; d. 17 Jul 1856 Boston; unmarried.
Joseph was a well-known silversmith and engraver in Boston, with works that can still be seen in museums. He apprenticed starting at the age of 13, and by age 20 was a journeyman in the shop of Paul Revere[6]. Within a few years he opened his own shop. He was particularly active in the creation of bookplates, such as those of William Smith[7] and Ignatius Sargent[8], which was copied as a design for porcelain plates now in the collection of the US State Department[9]. He took on some very ambitious projects, such as a detailed map of Massachusetts[10].
Joseph passed away 10 Nov 1821 age 70 in Boston[1][11][12].
