George was the eldest son and heir of Sir Hugh Calveley of Lea, knighted at Leith 1544, and his wife, Eleanor daughter of Thomas Tattenhall and sister and heir of Ralph Tatternhall of Bulkeley.

He died 5 August, 1585. Sir George Calveley, kt, was buried at Bunbury St Boniface, Cheshire, on 12 August, 1585.[1]
