Biography

Armstrong Campbell was born Apr. 30, 1784 in Straban Twp., Adams Co., Pennsylvania. He is the son of Hugh Campbell and Rebecca Armstrong. Armstrong married Margaret Stewart Dec. 28, 1815. They moved from Adams Co., Penn. about 1828 (Census) and were the first settlers in Darke Co., Ohio.


Armstrong Campbell-2D Brigade 5th Division, Pennsylvania Militia. No 93rd Regiment. Lieut. Col. Commandant John King. First Major John Albert, Second Major Alexander Campbell.

CHILDREN: Jane Hart Campbell (1816-1822), Rebecca Campbell Hersey (1818-1840), Mary Campbell Myers (1820-1892) , Elizabeth Stewart Campbell Peterson (1822-1861), Jane Hart Campbell Reed (1824-1896), Hugh Alexander Campbell (1826-1909), Nancy Belle Campbell Stoltz (1828-1906), David McCanaughy Campbell (1831-1902) James Armstrong Cambell (1834-1888).
